3D Printing of a Giant logo for Voxter
For the launch party of the new Bulgarian social media platform Voxter, we turned the brand’s digital eagle illustration into a physical object. A sculpture with a 3-metre wingspan, designed to work both as a brand statement and as a rather unconventional photo wall.
We had 26 days. That meant little room for error and quite a few late nights in the studio. From modelling and 3D printing to assembly, finishing and painting, our team worked long hours to make sure the eagle was ready to take center stage at the event.
For the structure, we used PETG with a hollow internal construction. This allowed us to preserve the volume and intricate relief of the wings without making the sculpture unnecessarily heavy. The sculpture was divided into three sections, making it large enough to make an impact, while still practical enough to transport.
Once the 3D printing was complete, we moved on to assembly, surface finishing and hand painting. The metallic coating, light and shadow effects, and finer details were all applied by hand, allowing the surface to catch and reflect light differently depending on its surroundings.
We transported the sculpture to the client’s chosen location and carried out a test installation a month before the event, together with a walkthrough of how it would be installed and used. LayerLab also handled the installation on the day of the party.
Today, the eagle has found a permanent home in Voxter’s studio. It is now an important part of the brand being used for backdrop of videos, podcasts and future events.
