Christmas Window Displays and Holiday Installations: Why Brands Should Order Now

Custom Christmas decorations for stores, shopping malls and hotels: oversized ornaments, brand mascots and photo spots, 3D printed in Bulgaria. Here's what you can create and why you should order now.
From the Workshop

A great Christmas window display can make shoppers stop, take a photo and walk inside. Yet every December, most stores, malls and hotels put up the same tinsel, baubles and fake snow. The holiday installations people remember are the ones that surprise them: a giant ornament they can step inside, a mascot taller than they are, a scene they want to share.

With large-scale 3D printing, your brand can have custom Christmas decorations that no one else has. At LayerLab, we turn an idea, a sketch or a logo into a physical object made for your space, your colours and your story. We design and print in Bulgaria and deliver to clients in Sofia, across the country and abroad.

There’s one catch: the best holiday installations are planned in autumn, not in December.

What is a holiday installation?

A holiday installation is a custom decorative piece or scene made for one location and one season. It can be a Christmas window display, a central figure in a mall atrium, a photo spot in a hotel lobby or an outdoor sculpture at a store entrance. Unlike ready-made decorations, it’s designed around your brand, your space and the story you want to tell.

Ideas for Christmas window displays and holiday installations

Oversized Christmas ornaments. Baubles, stars, snowflakes and gift boxes at a scale no catalogue offers, made in your brand colours or with your logo built in.

Christmas characters and brand mascots. Your mascot dressed for winter, a reindeer that matches your visual identity, or a figure created just for this year’s campaign. A character gives people something to remember and talk about.

Christmas photo spots. A giant snow globe, a festive frame or an oversized gift people can stand inside. Every photo shared on Instagram or TikTok shows your brand to people you didn’t have to pay to reach.

Window display scenes for stores. Complete scenes built around your products: winter landscapes, miniature cities or abstract shapes that lead the eye to what you sell.

Christmas decorations for shopping malls and hotels. Central pieces for atriums, lobbies and entrances that become a meeting point for the whole season.

Why choose 3D printed Christmas decorations?

  • Fully custom. Any shape, size and colour. Your decorations won’t look like anyone else’s.
  • Lightweight. Large 3D printed objects are easier to transport, hang and install than solid sculptures.
  • Indoor and outdoor use. With the right material and finish, pieces can stand up to cold, moisture and UV light.
  • Reusable year after year. Well-made pieces can be stored and used again next Christmas, or repainted for a new campaign.
  • Fast from file to object. No moulds or tooling, so design changes are easy and production starts sooner.

How long does a custom Christmas installation take?

A large holiday installation usually takes 4 to 6 weeks, from the first conversation to installation:

  1. Concept and design (1–2 weeks). We talk through your idea, space and budget, then prepare the 3D model and visuals for your approval.
  2. 3D printing (1–3 weeks). Depending on size and quantity, the pieces are printed in sections in our studio.
  3. Finishing (about 1 week). Assembly, sanding, priming, painting and protective coatings, so every piece looks finished up close.
  4. Delivery and installation (1–3 days). We deliver the pieces and can install them on site.

Most shopping centres and stores want their Christmas decorations in place by late November or early December, so the sooner you start, the better. Smaller pieces can be made in less time.

Frequently asked questions

When should I order Christmas decorations for my store? For large custom installations, order 4–6 weeks before you want them installed. Smaller pieces can be ready faster, and we take holiday orders until 30 November.

Can 3D printed decorations be used outdoors? Yes. We choose materials and coatings that resist cold, moisture and UV light, so pieces can stand at entrances, terraces or outdoor Christmas markets.

Can you add our logo or brand colours? Yes. Every piece is designed from scratch, so your logo, colours and mascot can be part of the design.

How big can a 3D printed Christmas decoration be? Large pieces are printed in sections and joined during finishing, so the final size depends on your space more than on the printer.

Can we reuse the decorations next year? Yes. 3D printed pieces are durable and light, so they’re easy to store. Many can be repainted or updated for the next season.
